MILES ON FOOT

March 21 2017 , Written by Ofem Ubi Published on #poetry, #BlackPower

I’d travel miles on foot

Employ mind as steering

Navigate through potholes and tantrum traffic

Stroll back into time

Uproot the fossils of history

And reread the scrolls just to update your memory

That you are life itself

Designed to give to those who need it

Created to lead not follow

Made to lend not borrow

You is love in a category of lifelines

You heal without medications

And it’s amazing what component you are made of

You are smiling star

Born to shine like morning sun

Your body is blanket

Warm enough to wrap your men in awe

And in you is embedded a thousand symphony of poetries yet to be written

Yet to be told

And though they told you

That your worth is nothing more than shredded rags on a kitchen floor

Though they told you

That your hands were made for cooking spoons and needles

Though they told you

That your throne is bed and your thighs are gates to pleasure city

Your DNA makes multiples of one

You are what we look up to

And the ball is in your court as always
