Teach Her These Things

Teach her these things 
Teach her to aspire 
To set her eyes on gold
For being female is no excuse to stay mediocre 
Teach her to dream 
And let her know that marriage is no ultimate achievement 
Else she'll end up at home with chores tied to her neck 
Tell her that this is the 21st century 
And been a liability does not go down fully 
For she's made to support 
Not to sit down and watch 
Tell her that her hands were not just made for napkins and kitchen spoons
The lines on it will guide her to purpose 
Tell her respect is no birthright 
We earn it
Tell her she deserves it 
But she won't get it in the four corners of her bedroom
