Iris II

I have watched the world drank itself to stupor
Seen it stagger in steps similar to salsa
I have walked on water
Seen the thin line between weather and whether
Whoever said there’s eternity in forever?
And how happy is “happy ever after”?
I have understood that to hope less is to be hopeless
And that shortcuts are neither better or way less
I have seen laziness in suits and hard work in rags
Watched time regurgitate itself
I have understood that beauty is heaven as well as hell
That either hot or cold,
Smoke is the answer
And black or white
Color will find a way to show itself
I have seen that all fingers are not equal
And yet understood that excuse comes often in pity
I have understood
That the end of a man is his beginning
I have heard
And I am still hearing
I have seen
And I am still seeing
