Identity

I have no English name
Not because I’m under exposed or over primitive
But;
But because my English name is a name too
I won’t change the course of my identity to fit into society’s curriculum
And no I don’t feel odd nor ashamed
For I carry my heritage like a wall clock
And maybe it’s time you did so too
So when next you ask of my English name,
Make sure you asked the white man of his African first
