On a day as this,
You’ll feel your muscle pull
It will pull right in front of mother’s eyes
She will be in the living room
As you try to pick up the decoder remote
The same remote she called you from the room to get for her,
who was just four steps away from it,
Immediately, with a toothpick beside her mouth she’ll ask
“What is it?”
You’ll reply,
It’s muscle pull
She’ll say something like this
“Why won’t you have muscle pull when you’re always pressing your phone?”
Involuntarily your eyes will give her this queer look
The same look you give away when somebody say’s
“it’s not the phone that is my issue, it’s the sim”
You try not to act all clothed in shock
Until she makes things worse
“Check the room divider; take two tablets of paracetamol and drink”
There and only there you understand
That every African mother, is a savage by default
