Your face retains beauty

like clay does water.

It sits like a bird on a tree branch,

whistling across the hinterlands

in search for anyone listening to the melody it pours out.

It looks like drizzling rain,

sliding down from cocoyam leaves down, dissolving into earth,

same earth it would rise up from,

ascend into sky only to fall back in due season.

It looks like a bullet of smiles,

hitting hard the hearts it reaches,

leaving them on their toes as they stare from dawn to dusk.
