I saw tears flood the compound

Family and friends trooped in like recruits for war

People with polluted breath

Faces wearing the color of death

And my lungs longed for air

But even the atmosphere was possessed with the stench of your demise

Days turned to night

Light turned to darkness

And everyone searched for happiness

But the soundtrack of your immediate inexistence became the rhythm to our heartbeat

T'was April 1st,i thought i was being fooled

But yours was the only April fool that came to reality

As i imagined breath escape from your nostrils

I lost appetite for life

The worms in my stomach could bear witness of how emotionally starved i was

My fears laid so bare i need you

Cos you've been they from the beginning

From my first cry to my first crawl

From my first step as a boy but it's sad

You won't be here to watch me fly
