“I now explore science through arts”
I am O’neal Emmanuel, a Fashion, Portrait and Digital Art Photographer.
I was one who swum in so many things, I did things not because I loved doing them but because I had to do something, staying idle wasn’t an option.
Venturing into photography is unarguably one of the best decisions of my life. For once I understood what it meant to be purposeful about something, there’s a future in what I do and its not just for the now, its something beyond. My Art gave me a sense of belonging, it equipped me with the feeling that I too can do something, something commendable, worthy of appreciation, criticism and acceptance.
Before photography, my level of confidence was on a low level but I’ve been able to create value around myself, understand the essence of what I do, now I name my price without second thought.
My Art makes me own people. As a photographer, for the stipulated time you get to shoot a client, you understand that regardless of their class and status, you get to reign over them for that defined period. Clients would do almost anything to get a near If not perfect image, and its right there, in that space of desperateness that you get the mantle to control; it’s a gift that could substitute for a curse if mismanaged.
I’d always loved science’s back in school, I had dreamt of being an Engineer though that was short-lived because I didn’t do well in my science courses. I switched to Arts, but then I discovered that I could yet explore sciences through Arts, hence I delved into photo manipulation.
Basically, both disciplines involve the merging of things to create a whole stunning work. Photography itself is the Art of drawing images with the use of light. It advocates for the blending of these disciplines because in photography, one cannot survive without the other. You think of an idea and how to bring one or two’s to make it work, the camera brings this idea to being and for those who edit, it seals everything.
God created man in his image; He himself is an Artist, the first ever, we’re all but descendants of his creative outlet. And Art itself is a puzzle, it entails you connecting the dots and bringing out something beautiful. It has become a tool used to communicate on all levels, to breathe life into dead bones as well.
I found myself in the heart of Art, this is who I am.
