Teach Thy Sons These Things

Teach him these things
Teach him about contentment
Tell him it's OK to long for the things you don't have
But not to the point of envy
Because once that sets in, the hate seed will find a safe ground to blossom
Tell him that everything takes time including him
Tell him that he'll have all he wants including those he never knew he needed
Tell him that contentment is great wealth
A kind of wealth only the poor have
And that's why sometimes they live longer
Tell him to always live within his means while he works to get bigger
Because living above his pocket is a pit so deep he won't see the end of it
Tell him that with great contentment comes great satisfaction
Because it's better to sleep full eyes closed on a rickety mattress than sleep one eyed open on a king size
Teach him these things
