Bulletproofs

After several heartbreaks,
“I love you” became more of a death sentence
A gunshot
So she began to wear bullet proof vests on date nights
For her every guy was a potential assassin
And these three words were bullets their tongues always fired
They would set sight on their victims before shooting
And she has been a target often too many times
So today she chooses to be the shooter
As she shoots at her target
She fires “I love you”
And he fires “I love you too”
She wonders why he resists the call of a heart strain
As he says “I wore mine too, I’ve been a victim just as you”
But two victims can turn victors eventually
All it takes is the right antidote
So she’s done with bulletproofs
It took a fellow victim to heal the wounds
